Crawford Market

Crawford market is one of  the  busiest market in Mumbai. The market is situated  on the north of the Victoria railway station and  opposite to the Mumbai Police Headquarters. Crawford market  is  very popular market  of the city. The  prominent market  of the city  took its name after the then City’s Municipal Commissioner Arthur Crawford.  If you are chic shoppers, this is the right place for you.

  
The market is covered with Clock tower, steeple and carvings spaces inside which  provides the city exotic look. Apart from other things  you can buy here goggles, home utensils, fruits and also vegetables in this market. As  name Mumbai was changed from Bombay, same happened with this and now this market has got its name after  Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Market. Though hardly anyone  knows this Market from the new name. The old name is still  in the mi Still  in the mind of peoples. Cowasji Jehangir  gifted  the building of  Crawford  Market to the city. The building was built  in 1869.

Until  1996, Crawford market was the chief wholesale fruit market in Mumbai. Though, later whole sale trades of the city moved to Navi  Mumbai.

Crawford market as before will be playing prominent role in the   fruits and fish sells for coming time.
